FUNDRAISING EVENT IN ZINGALUME HEADLINED BY MACKY 2 DISRUPTED BY UNRULY YOUTHS STONING EVENT ATTENDEES
In efforts to raise funds to support youths, an NGO based in Zingalume took an initiative to organise an event that was going to be headlined by rapper Macky 2. But a night that was meant to raise funds to uplift youths’ life turned into chaos when the same youths started stoning event attendees.
Stand Up Zingalume, the non-governmental organization responsible for this event said the event that was scheduled to start at 7pm(19:00 hours) on 7th March, 2025 only started at 8:46pm(20:46 hours) due to electricity issues. The event was going well until 11pm(23:00 hours) when a group of unruly youths from Matero and Zingalume decided to assalt event attendees with stones hence cutting the show halfway.
The non-governmental organization revealed that the ‘Friday night with Macky 2″ event had other artist performing such as BRIO, Goddy, MC Breeze and The Last Don. Stand Up Zingalume says the event was sponsored by its members from their pockets hence were saddened by the turn of events.
The purpose for this event was to raise funds in order to buy studio equipments, an effort meant to uplift Zingalume and surrounding areas’ youths who struggle to find studio time due to high fees.
In their expression of displeasure at the youths’ act, the organization wrote in part, “We have nothing more to say except that it seems some people choose to remain in poverty.”
They further added, “This event was funded with our own hard-earned money, not for personal gain, but to help our brothers and sisters struggling to access studio time or those at risk of becoming homeless and falling into bad habits. Yet, after putting in so much energy and effort, we are left with nothing. God, please guide our hearts during this difficult time. ”
Several social media users have expressed displeasure at the acts of the youths which undermined the efforts of the organization to help eleviate the increase in youths who end up on the street and turn it thugs in the area.
Videos are currently circulating on social media showing several unruly youths picking and throwing stones at the venue harming event attendees. So far, the motive behind the unruly youths is has not been revealed.
