HOW COME IFWE LYONSE NI WALA? CHEF 187 SPOKE ON BEHALF OF ALL HUSLERS ON THIS SONG
Throwback Thursday – Chef 187 can be regarded as the hustlers association president as his delivery on his 2015 “Wala Wala,” was not just
a simple record but an anthem for all the struggling hustlers out there as he spoke on an issue that affect many of them which is, “hard work with little or no results to show for it.”
Verse 1 talks starts with the rapper venting about how he was stopping work because of a bad boss, and now his wife wears a frown face. He reflects on how that people will blame him if he rosorts robbing and how people are saying he is a just nobody. “Mwi mblamer nganauma robbery, nobody seems to care ninefye nobody,” Chef 187 rapped.
On the chorus, the rapper talks about how people like thieves and witches recieves were doing whilst he struggled to make ends meet. He rapped, “Imfula ngailaloka napa ndoshi, nakasuba ukubalikila inchenjeshi, bakabwalala, amaule ne mpulumushi, nganebo finshi nalufyanya? Tefikulu bushe?” This shortly translates to, it rains at thieves’ places, and the sun shines at witches’ places, how come there nothing happening in my life(wala).
In verse two, the rapper talks about him being a law-abiding citizen and doing his business honestly, but still nothing is working out for him. Chef 187 rapped, “Pano nine law abiding citizen, genuine business man futi then, genuine fyonse no back door dilu.”
The rapper further talks about how everything has failed despite being a good guy and trying all that he could. He continues as he says he will be trying what others are doing because he has no choice anymore. “Naikala life-style yama good boy, nomba tailengafwa so good-bye, welcome kubupondo choice apa nimbula,” he rapped.
How come nothing is working out for him was what he repeated on the chorus. His message, “How come ifwe lyonse ni wala,” is every rapper story. Hence, the song was and still is highly relatable even after 10 years since its release. Today’s rappers do not write such songs.
The song remains a forever classic signifying the rapper’s strong lyrical game as he ventured on topics that affects life of most people, real life stories, which are highly motivational for several people who are working hard. A classic forever!
