JEMAX SAID “THE BOOGEYMAN” WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN ALBUM OF THE YEAR AND NOT CHILE ONE’S ALBUM, CALLING IT A TWO WEEKS SUCCESS

“Chile One, do you agree?” Jemax asked his host Suecey during an interview on Power TV whether she agrees Chile One was supposed to win album of the year after he said, “Although yambi yale wina ama awards tayalingile kuwina waishiba, best album yapwile kumfwika muli two weeks but yasenda award.”

The rapper was responding to a question in which he was asked if he expected the success his album had attained. In his response, he first stated that it’s achievements were a surprise as they suppased his expectations.

The rapper then expressed disappointment over Chile One’s Boy From Chililand winning Album of the Year at Kwacha Music Awards 2024 over his album “The Boogeyman” saying his album was a huge only for two weeks while his achieved a lot of success, performing better that many other album released that year.

“I know, I was going to get it,” said the rapper as he added that he was shocked that Chile One’s album won the category and that it wasn’t on the list of albums he expected to win if not his. He then added to Suecey’s comment, saying the winner wasn’t chosen on merit. If that was the case, Chile One wouldn’t have won.

The rapper who won Best Mainstream, Best Collaboration and Song of the Year with his hit song Mpawi featuring Jae Cash and Kays Adamz on the same night said he was not excited like he would have been if he won the categories he thought before the event but expressed gratitude for winning more than two awards as they signified his work’s recognition.

Chile One who came on the scene after the success release of his breakout single Fweba Ku Chaume featuring Jemax may have taken the joy of the artist who gave him a feature when he was barely known, a feature that propelled his song to over 10 million YouTube views.

True to the rapper’s assertion, his album “The Boogeyman” accumulated over 65.6 million streams from Spotify, boomplay and audiomack whilst Chile One’s Boy From Chililand accumulated over 21.3 million streams on the same platforms.

The question many social users are asking is, is Jemax’s assertions true? Chile One’s Boy From Chililand did not win the album of the year at Kwacha Music Awards in 2024 over an album, which was second most streamed in 2024 on spotify “The Boogeyman” based on credit? Whatever the case is, Jemax seems aggrieved up to date.
