THERE’S NO SONG THAT PLAYED INTERNATIONALLY BETTER THAN “NAKABA” APART FROM ROBERTO’S – DOPE BOYS

Dope Boys shared their opinion on Zambian award ceremonies as they responded to POWER TV’s Suecey’s question on if they felt like they were supposed to win an award and they did not.
Rockgeezy of Dope Boys responded, saying Zambian awards make a lot of mistakes in nominations as they sometimes place certain songs in wrong categories and do not nominate some deserving big songs hence they don’t focus on them so much.
Dope Boys’ Smart K then added, wondering why their smash hit NAKABA never got nominated for international achievement as it was played more than any other song in Zambia. Rockgeezy then complimented his duo mate by saying, “Apart from Roberto.”
“So ilya yale fyaika nomination,” added Smart K. The duo’s Nakaba was a smash hit, amassing over 1.7 million YouTube views and influencing TikTok creators to use the sound over 50,000 times, hence the song transversing into international territories including Uganda and Kenya.
In the year that the song came out and the subsequent year – 2023 & 2024, the duo only got one nomination for Kwacha Music Awards’ Best Duo/Group which they lost to fellow Kopala duo Chanda na Kay consecutively.
Regardless of their stance, they appealed to award committees to do the right thing and consult were necessary.
Awards still play a significant role in the music industry as they motivate artists for the work they have done – with an album already on the way after successfully releasing “Pingamo” album last year, the duo will definitely be looking forward to receiving some accolades for their efforts.
