I RECEIVED NO BACKLASH FROM MY PARENTS WHEN I STARTED MUSIC – RAPPER NATASHA CHANSA

Rapper and dancer Natasha Chansa told Power TV’s Suecey during an interview that she did not have any issues with her parents when she decided to pursue a career in music despite being raised in a highly Christian home.
“I remember, I’ve received no backlash from my parents from the time I started doing music,” said Natasha Chansa as she explained the warm reception her parents showed toward her new found career but periodically asking questions out of curiosity like about what the type of music she does is called and she’d answer, “conscious music(laughs)!”
The 25 year-old rapper recounted her father’s reactions when she came back from having an interview at a radio station in Chilenje which her father tuned into and heard her new song, “He came out and he is singing the song, my song, and he gave me the biggest hug. After that, I didn’t feel like I needed to be answerable to anyone.”
The rapper further revealed that she had conversations with her elder siblings about her music career. Her elder siblings cited her father’s position in the community, suggesting that her pursuit was not fit the daughter of a clergy man. The singer decided to quit and stop the release of her single.
It was only for a few people around her who encouraged her to continue her pursuit, saying she had a good song and she just needed to work hard.
“They were like, look, this is a good song. Let us just do what we have to do regardless of all this. What do you want?” People close to Natasha Chansa would tell her – she’d contemplate, with all the support, the rest is history as she is now a superstar rapper bagging multiple brand deals.
