FERN MEDIA SNUBBED SPOTLIGHT FOR DIRECTOR LO OVER YO MAPS’ “MR & MRS” VISUALS AS HE CLAIMS HE SHOT THE VIDEO

Renowned Zambian photographer and videographer Fernando Yakobo of Fern Media took to his Facebook to appreciate his sympathizers for getting in touch with him over what seems like an enquiry on why he wasn’t credited despite shooting Yo Maps’ Mr and Mrs music video.
“I appreciate everyone reaching out, yes, I was behind the Dubai visuals featured in this recent project,” said Fernando as he attached a video of him filming Mr & Mrs’ visuals in UAE, Dubai.
Mr & Mrs is Yo Maps’ first offering of 2025 which was filmed in United Arab Emirates’ city of Dubai and included scenes from Sheikh Zayed Road, the Dubai Frame in Zabeel Park, Shoreline Apartments on Palm Jumeirah and Bluewaters Island.
The music video credits Director Lo and his film production company Reel Studios for being entirely responsible for the whole project without the mention or crediting of the work that Fernando Yakobo or his company Fern Media contributed to the project.
It is unclear to as why Mr. Yakobo’s work was not credited as he does not give any signs of having done an inquiry to find out why he wasn’t credited from his contractors or the reason(s) he got were not satisfactory.
Some of the roles creatives may play in the filming processes include director, director of photography, producer, camera operator, editor, colorist, and gaffer, among others.
Some of the reasons why a creative’s work might not be credited would include miscommunication(oversight), contractual issues, post-production ownership, subcontracting without proper crediting, etc.
With the success Mr & Mrs’ video is already receiving as it has amassed over 250,000 YouTube views in less than 10 hours, any creative would want their contribution(s) be credited as it is a huge project and platform to showcase their work.
Mr. Fernando, regardless, expressed gratitude as he further said in the post, “Even without the spotlight, I’m proud of the creative direction and thankful for the opportunity to contribute. Your support means a lot.”
Yo Maps or his record label Olios Records have not shared a statement regarding the issue.
