A BUS AND OTHER ESSENTIALS DONATED BY PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA TO LATE DORA NYAMBE’S FOOTPRINT OF HOPE FOUNDATION
A dream realized after her passing, Dora Nyambe's school gets the much needed bus
Dora Nyambe passed on 25th January, 2025 after a short illness which she had to drive herself from Mapapa Village in Mkushi to the hospital at 3 am, that journey ended tragically as new of her passing spead the that morning.
Before her death, she was fundraising through Go Fund Me for a bus as the one they had been using for her school was damaged beyond repair. Through the fundraising, she managed to raise $72,273 USD (equivalent to 2,014,089.51 ZMK) of the 80,000 USD she targeted.
Through the president’s special assistant, Mr Jito Kayumba, President Hakainde Hichilema donated a bus and essential food items, which Footprints Of Hope really needed in order to keep being sustainable.
Mr Jito Kayumba encouraged the staff, fostered children and those under the care of Footprint of Hope to embrace the spirit of Ms Nyambe and not cry tears of sadness anymore. He further stated that the president had been watching Ms Nyambe’s TikTok videos hence he was touched to donate and he would continue to do so.
Before Ms Dora Nyambe’s passing, she was fostering over five hundred children from the community, saving them from child marriage, abuse and offering them a shelter, food and an education through the school she built of which she required the bus for in order to ferry her pupils to and from the school, and some their homes.
The wonder lady, who died at only 32 years old, managed to gain over four million TikTok followers, and got Beast Philanthropy on board to build them classrooms, borehole, electricity through solar and boarding spaces for the fostered children.
The gesture was appreciated by the erea chief who also took an opportunity to request government’s assistance in puting the teachers on government payroll as the teachers were volunteering their services.
Ms Dora Nyambe will be remembered as a resilient, hard working, caring and a mother to hundreds of children, her efforts is ensuring a child was not abused and was well fed, and educated a good gesture she had been doing since 2020. Her work will echo in many people heads in the world to encourage them to be compassionate, even to one person – she was a true philanthropy.
