AMIGOS EVENTS HAVE ISSUES PAYING ARTISTS LAMENTS WILLZ MR. NYOPOLE

On December 30th, 2024, renowned Zambian artist T Low took to his Facebook in a move he referred to as speaking for his fellow artists. The artist called out Amigos Events for using artists’ images to promote their events and failing to fulfill their contractual obligations.

A behavior he vowed not to tolerate as the events company had ghosted him priorising foreign artists. “You will not exploit local talents. We have worked so hard to get to where we are right now so put some respect on the brands,” said T Low as he further encouraged fellow artists to stand up against such treatment further adding, “Change begins with us.”

Four months later, Willz Mr. Nyopole seems to have fell pray to Amigos Events’ antics as the singer also took to his Facebook quoting T Low’s earlier post about the event organisers as he said, “T Low once had an issue with these promoters called Amigos Events. I have come to understand that they always have issues paying artists. Fellow artists, what’s your story before I share mine?”

The post spiralled into an industry conversation as rapper King Illest joined the convention seemingly also a prey of the event organisers’ antics as he commented, “I will share mine after you do(laughing emoji). Also, I thought STEAM is your boy, wat cut?”

The NEW DAWN of Zambian music president Mr. Brian Bwembya alias B Flow joined the conversation, encouraging the artists to share their experiences with him. The artist commented, “The Zambia Association of Musicians(ZAM) is interested in this manner. We request all affected artists to furnish us with all the details of their experiences with the named promoter. Our office awaits the details.”

With about three Zambian artists complaining about Amigos Events’ conduct, many social users have welcomed the association intrest in the matter and possible resolution as many might have fallen prey and if not sorted out, many more artists will.

For now, creatives await ZAM’s resolution and are encouraged to take singer T Low’s valuable advice to stand up for themselves against abusive promoters.
