CHEF 187 FEATURED ME AND IT OPENED DOORS FOR ME XAVEN TOLD BBC – THIS IS AFRICA ON HER RISE TO FAME

While featuring on the BBC’s This Is Africa hosted by DJ Edu on a special episode focused on Zambia tittled “Zambia Ku Chalo” part two, celebrated top Zambian rapper Xaven opened up shading light on her rise to prominent fame.

The rapper, after talking about her inspiration, what her music represents, new song, and the Zambian sound among other things with DJ Edu, gave credit for her early rise to fame to her brother Y Celeb and top Zambian rapper Chef 187.

Xaven was responding to a question by DJ Edu, whose curiosity led him to find out what song changed career projection for the highly celebrated Kopala rapper. DJ Edu asked Xaven, “And what song is the one that put Xaven on the map? The one that said Xaven has arrived. ”

Xaven responded, ” Its titled ‘They Lie,’ I did it with my brother Y Celeb, and everybody went crazy. So the first song I ever jumped on was on the biggest album in the country at the time ‘Bon Apetit – Chef 187’ and actually that verse that I put in opened doors for me being signed under a certain record label at the time.”

‘They *** Lie’ is a song by Y Celeb featuring Xaven, Jae Cash, and Briyo, which accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams on digital streaming platforms. On Bon Apetit by Chef 187, the rapper featured on ‘Mu City’ featuring Jolie and Xaven. The rapper said these two songs were pivotal to her success.

Xaven is now an established artist with several hit songs to her name. The rapper’s gratitude towards the artist who paved way for her is highy commendable. During the interview while answering another question from DJ Edu, the rapper went ahead and gave credit to fellow female artists which included Mampi, Towela Kaira, and Kanina Kandalama to the BBC as other prominent figures in the industry.
