CHEF 187 REFUSED TO FEATURE ON FWE BAKUCHAUME, ASKED ME TO CHANGE MY NAME FIRST – CHILE ONE
TOP Zambian artist Chile One MrZambia featured on this week’s Kenny T 1 ON 1 podcast hosted by Kenny T. The singer opened up about how he wanted Chef 187 on his Fwe Bakuchaume song, but the rapper rejected because of his name.
The singer told Kenny T, “Time nalefyaya ukwimba inyimbo naba Chef, iya Fwe Bakuchaume, it was supposed to feature Chef.”
He continued, “So when I called him to say I’m Chile One, he first started to say Iwe walaba shani Chile One? Ine ah ninkwata ko inyimbo ine iyo ndefyaya muntolokele mo, ukantumine nga wa chinja Ishina first, chinjako ishina.”
Chile One told Kenny that there was another Chile One on the Copperbelt who was close to the rapper, therefore justifying his reason for turning down the upcoming Chile One’s request to be on the song and asking him to change his name.
The singer would instead go on to feature Kabwe’s biggest export JEMAX and song that went on to hit over 10 million YouTube views, topped multiple radio chats, and an award(s) at Kwacha Music Awards.
The “Copperbelt Chile One” would pass away just the moment the singer was starting to see the light at the tunnel as he was reportedly killed by his wife.
Chile One added, saying people confusing him for the late Chile One and his viral 2022 interview with media personality, Edina helped propel him into a mainstream artist as this was when people were catching on to his Fwe Bakuchaume song.
Chile One did not change his name but previously had different names, including Prince Jonathan, Dope Powersome Chile, and B Joe.
The two artists have since worked on three songs together, which include WHY ME in 2022, which went on to hit 11 million YouTube views becoming his biggest release on the platform, Because Of You from his album Boy From Chililand and a single off his 2025 EAGLE ONE album titled MARRY ME.
