CHIPATA TAXI DRIVER RUNS OVER JOSEPH MWENDA’S FOOT WHILE EXCITED TO SEE MWIZUKANJI, LATER ACCUSED HIM OF BREAKING HIS WINDSHIELD

Socialite MWIZUKANJI’s husband JOSEPH MWENDA has told DIAMOND TV that a taxi driver who was excited to see his wife who was exiting their car at Chipata ShopRite ran over his foot after mistakenly driving forward instead of reversing.

“So instead of putting the car in reverse, he now puts it in drive and then runs over my right foot. So my ankle is twisted like this, this wheel on top of my leg like this,” Mr. Mwenda told a DIAMOND TV reporter.

He continued, “I started screaming and was hitting on his car so that he can move. So later on, he moved and I was able to release my foot.”

He went on to narrate that the said TAXI driver later went to report to CHIPATA CENTRAL POLICE that he broke his windshield because he was angry that he greeted his wife.

Mr. Mwenda was then picked from Chipata Shoprite by armed police officers and he gave his statement at the station.

An unidentified officer ordered for his detention for malicious damage to property.

However, before he was placed in a holding cell, he was taken to an office to explain his account of events.

Unsatisfied with earlier claims by the TAXI driver after hearing Mr. Mwenda’s account of events, the taxi driver was brought to the same office and upon interrogation, he admitted to running over Mr. Mwenda’s foot.

The two were then advised to resolve the issue among themselves and they were taken for counselling by the commissioner of police.

Mr. Mwenda who said he was okay after the 3-hour ordeal concluded, “And then we were released. So I was not officially arrested. I was not officially detained in police cells. They released me after hearing what actually transpired.”

The New Diggers editor-in-chief was at Chipata General Hospital for medical management of his run over right ankle.
