COSMAS N’GANDWE RECIEVES OVER 130,000 KWACHA IN PLEDGES FOR MWIZUKANJI FILM PART 2

Actor and filmmaker Cosmas N’gandwe is currently hosting a party celebrating his socialite Mwizukanji’s life based story movie titled “Mwizukanji” for winning the 11th edition of African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards’ Best Indigenous Language Southern Africa movie on May 10th, 2025 in Lagos, Nigeria.

With ambition running in his veins, he already has a site on creating the movie’s part two, but with a budget deficit of over 500,000 Zambian Kwacha, the filmmaker has been left with no choice but to solicit funds from his celebration event’s attendees.

Zambian rapper Macky 2, who was part-time MC of the event apologized for ambushing the attendees with pledges request and later encouraged them to donate something even after the event to help a brother in art as his success is not only for himself but for everyone.

He opened by pledging 10,000 Kwacha. The other two attendees pledged 10,000 and 15,000 Kwacha while fellow filmmaker Wyclif Mwamba pledged 30,000 Kwacha.

The guest of honor announced a budget goal of approximately 17,980 US dollars in his currency conventions before asking event attendees to contribute at least 120 USD( equivalent to 3,276 Kwacha) to see the project through before he pledged a minimum of 2,500 US dollars (equivalent to 68,260 Kwacha) towards Mwizukanji film part 2.

Other attendees pledged technical support and offered themselves as free actors and actresses whilst the hosting venue ‘Mikaila Gardens’ owner pledged their VIP lounge and food if they wanted to use the place for any scene as he stated that he supports art.

With over 130,000 Kwacha in pledges, it will now require 370,000 Kwacha more for the project to take off. Mr. N’gandwe is regarded as a determined man, and this project is something that he will most likely bring to life as he has already announced plans to start shooting.

Mwizukanji part one was a success, having had two sold-out screenings, positive reviews, and winning international accolades.

It is unclear if the movie was able to break even or it was a box office bomb as that information is not available in the public domain. The movie is available for streaming on local streaming platform Inwit starting at 20 Kwacha.

For now, the movie’s fans eagerly await part two. With financial constraints, the movie’s most likely release date or year has not been made public, but fans hope it’s sooner
