DOPE BOYS CALL ON ZAM PRESIDENT B FLOW TO HELP INTEGRATE COPPERBELT ARTISTS INTO LUSAKA EVENTS LIKE LUSAKA ARTISTS DO IN THEIRS

Speaking to Suecey on POWER TV, Copperbelt duo Dope Boys responded to a question where they were asked what changes they would like to see now that there’s a new president leading Zambia Association of Musicians(ZAM).

One half of the duo, Rockgeezy told Suecey that they would want to see artists from the Copperbelt being included in events that take place in Lusaka just like how Trade Kings includes Lusaka artists in events that take place on the Copperbelt like Zambia International Trade Fair.

Dope Boys’ Rockgeezy said, “Copperbelt like finga mwamona efyo yaisa mukuba yapala ku Copperbelt. Ngakuli ilya ati Trade Fair, Zambia International Trade Fair. Ba Trade Kings kulesa mukuba elya iyakweba ati balasendako ama artists baku Copperbelt ebala fulako nama artists bakuno kwine ku Lusaka nabena balaisa.”

He continued, “So isa mukuchitika yakweba ati futi ngaibelele kuno kulya ati Show Grounds, kusanga maybe limbi kuli ama artists baku Lusaka beka beka.”

Dope Boys’ Rockgeezy further said, “Three quarters yama events yaba kuno ku Lusaka kusangwa fye ama artists bamo bene,” as he pondered on whether there are committees before stating that event organiser hire certain artists even when they do not have hit songs leaving out those who do.

There have been high expectations from the new ZAM executive, and this appeal is not new with Southern Province artists requested for the same as they appealed for inclusivity in huge events such the Mosi Day of Thunder – an appeal that was a success after B Flow’s intervention.

“So ba president ba B Flow, kutu lolekesha po,” said Dope Boys’ Smart K as the two sent pleas for Copperbelt artists inclusivity not only in shows but other musical agendas – as they cried foul stating that they got to learn about ZAM elections on media.

The duo said that they’ve been members of the association since 2019 but did not reveal if they’ve been up to date with yearly membership payments – looking at the fact that there has been boycott for a while as there has been no faith is the association fulfilling its agenda – something many artists now hope will be different with the new executive led by B Flow.

Since Brian Bwembya alias B Flow taking office in March, there has been hope among artists that he and his executive will be able to change the industry narrative and faith in ZAM creating an enabling environment for artists to flourish artistically and financially.
