Zambian singer David Banda alias GENERAL OZZY has been involved in a head-on collision motor vehicle accident near Family Safari, MONZE on Great North Road – an accident that left Choma Police Station’s Chief Inspector Michael Nyirenda dead.
KALEMBA reported that Zambia Police Service said, “the accident happened when the Toyota Luxus carrying General Ozzy attempted to wrongly overtake a truck, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming Toyota Axio, which had the right of way!”
Meanwhile, according to an eyewitness, Mr. Makina who spoke to Crown TV and the singer, the Chief Inspector, who was heading north towards Monze, entered the Ozzy’s lane, who was heading south towards Choma therefore, causing the accident.
“This is how I would have lost my life today, I was in my own lane, bro,” the singer told a Kalemba reporter.
After the news of the accident broke out, his young brother, fellow singer ROBERTO, announced the cancellation and rescheduling of his Valentine’s Day performance at the Jungle Hive Restaurant.
According to reports, General Ozzy was in the company of a male colleague in a Toyota Lexus while the late Chief Inspector was in the company of a female passenger in Toyota Axio.
General Ozzy and his male colleague are in stable condition receiving medical attention at Choma General Hospital. Meanwhile, the condition of the female passenger is currently unknown.
The Zambia Police Service has since instituted investigations into the particulars of the accident.
