INCLUDE LOCAL ARTISTS OR GET REPORTED TO CHIEF MUKUNI, LUCKY’S COMEDY TELLS ‘MOSI DAY OF THUNDER’ ORGANIZERS

In a message on his Facebook addressed to “MOSI DAY OF THUNDER” organizers endorsed by rapper King Illest, Southern Province top comedian Lucky’s Comedy took a daring move to call out the event organisers for excluding artists’ from the region the event is held ‘Livingstone, Southern Province’ from featuring on one of the biggest musical stages in Zambia.

Mosi Day of Thunder 2025, an event by Mosi Premium Lager is scheduled for April, 26th at the Busiku Grounds in Livingstone and promises to be a spectacular event. The event pulls various industry influential individuals and creatives, featuring over ten thousand event goers making it a huge platform for event performers.

It is probably one of the reasons the creatives Lucky’s Comedy and King Illest feel the need to have artists from the region to feature on the event line up. In his request for inclusivity, Lucky’s Comedy wrote, “As you prepare to host your event in Livingstone, I urge you to consider promoting local artists. It would be a great opportunity to showcase the talent of Southern Province musicians, fostering a sense of unity and support.”

The comedian went on to list some of the artist that he feels need to be given the platform, he wrote, “There are many talented musicians in Southern Province who could represent the region, such as Mr. Crown, Black Mark, King Illest, Mpande, Mel G, Real Jay, Tiger, Mordecai etc. Including one of these artists would be a significant gesture of support.”

The comedian who usually shares videos to make people laugh on social platforms put on his serious musk as he called for the Mosi Day of Thunder organizers to emulate other event organizers who take inclusivity seriously as they include several artists from different regions in their event line ups.

“If you were a guest in someone’s home, would you cook a meal and eat alone without inviting your host?” The comedian asked as he questioned how the organizers host the event in the region without the artist’s from the region getting an opportunity to showcase their skills on the biggest musical stage in the region.

Almost each year, several artists complain of being left out on the artist line up for the event. This year’s event performers will include,Xaven, Vinchenzo, Triple M, Jae Cash, Towela Kaira, Chanda na Kay, 76 Drums and JC Kalinks. The criteria which the event organisers use to choose which artists perform has never been revealed.

The comedian, more serious than ever ended his appeal with a warn and caution statement directed at the organisers as he said, “If I don’t see any effort to include local artists, I will be forced to escalate this matter to the relevant authorities, including Chief Mukuni, the owner of the land.”

The statement was backed by rapper King Illest who said, “Need I say more?” Several social user were in agreement with the comedian’s call, calling it a valid request. Other social users felt he should have written a formal request letter to the organisers. Well, now the comedian will have to wait and see if anything will be done.
