JAYTRIGGA SAYS “NATIONALITY” MUSIC VIDEO WILL NOT FEATURE ROTIMI

Zambian singer Jay Trigga, while on That Zed Podcast’s episode 174 hosted by K Plus and Elson, revealed that the music video for his and Ari’s breakthrough track Nationality will not feature American-Nigerian musical superstar Rotimi.

Rotimi jumped on the record after hearing the song through their mutual colleague and recording a video requesting Jay Trigga and Ari to put him on the song, a move that excited the singer’s fans.

Nationality remix which was scheduled for release on June 5th was released on Friday, 20th June 2025, after being postponed in respect of the late republican president Edgar Lungu.

When asked why Rotimi was not going to be in the music video, Jay Trigga revealed that the two had already planned to shoot the music video for the original song even before Rotimi requested to be on the song.

He further said that when the two requested him to be in the music video, he could not be available due to his tight schedule. According to Rotimi’s socials, he was in the USA at the time the singers were in Zanzibar.

The Afrobeats inspired artist said he and his friend Ari had gone to Zanzibar to shoot the music video further stating that they chose the location because it was mentioned in the song.

Jay Trigga did not say the Nationality’s music video release date.

The singer also took time to dispel allegations of Rotimi using their success as he stated that he’s presence on the remix will expose them to American audience whose streams hold more value compared to Zambian streams on digital streaming platforms such as Spotify.

One thing is certain for Jay Trigga and Ari’s fans – the music video is shot and it’s only a matter of time until it’s released, for now, they can enjoy the song’s remix.
