Kazadi Films Sues Kidist Kifle for Breach of Contract
Icon Zambia Judge Accused of Missing Episodes and Failing to Meet Contractual Obligations

Kazadi Films Sues Kidist Kifle for Breach of Contract
Kazadi Films has sued socialite Kidist Kifle, wife of popular artist Yo Maps, for alleged violation of contract.
The disagreement stems from Kifle’s work as a judge in the Icon Zambia singing competition, where she has been accused of failing to execute her responsibilities.

According to court records presented at the Lusaka Magistrates Court, Kazadi Films contracted Kifle to serve as a judge on the Icon Zambia show.
Her tasks included attending pre-production meetings, taking part in all production operations, and marketing the show on social media and other platforms.
The contract stated that Kifle would be paid $3,000 (roughly K76,173.66) for her efforts, with 50% paid up front and the balance due upon completion of the event.
However, Kazadi Films claims that Kifle skipped multiple episodes of the competition, causing substantial delays and increasing production costs.
Despite attempts to resolve the matter, Kifle allegedly violated the terms of the contract, which obliged her to notify the production firm of any scheduling conflicts and make reasonable steps to reschedule.
The corporation claims that her repeated absences and failure to participate in promotional activities breached the contract, prompting her discharge.
Kazadi Films is now pursuing legal remedies, requesting that Kifle reimburse the advance payment for the missing episodes as well as cover any additional production costs incurred as a result of her absence.
The corporation has also emphasised Kifle’s refusal to participate in interviews and other promotional efforts, which violates her contractual obligations.
The contract included procedures for settling disagreements through mediation, but Kazadi Films argues that efforts to settle the matter peacefully failed.
As a result, the company launched a lawsuit against Kifle, requesting that the court enforce the contract and award remedies for the losses caused.
The case is still pending at the Lusaka Magistrates Court, awaiting assignment to a magistrate for further proceedings.
