KING ILLEST TURNS DOWN “MOSI DAY OF THUNDER” PERFORMANCE OFFER BUT FANS ASK WHAT SONGS HE WOULD HAVE PERFORMED
After several social media plea posts for inclusion in “big programs” that take place in Southern Province by creatives from the region, they finally had a breakthrough.
This was after Brian Bwembya alias B Flow in his capacity as Zambia Association of Musicians(ZAM) president vouched for them and announced that several artists and DJs will be performing at the prestigious Mosi Day of Thunder in Livingstone this Saturday, 26th April, 2025 after engaging with the event organisers.
But barely 24 hours after the announcement, rapper King Illest, in a non-specific post, supposedly turned down the offer that ZAM president bargained for as he wrote, “Thank you for the tags and mentions. I’ve seen all your posts, but I’d still not take a last-minute booking—even if their team had approached my team. The message was loud and clear. Wishing all the artists and the event great success.”
Radio goddess Page Ethy Kamanga seemed to agree with the rapper’s decision terming the offer as disrespectful to his brand. She commented on a sentiment many users agreed with, and she said, “Cause it’s disrespectful. Why did it take other people to speak on it for them to do the right thing? Booking you for last min is mad insane like you have none to do. Know your worth as a brand.”
Other social users turned into a light moment as one user asked the rapper in the comments section what songs he was going to perform at the event if he was booked. The social user wrote, “Now, what song will you even perform?” he asked.
Singer Mr Crown and Comedian Lucky’s Comedy recently took to their social platforms to share their grievances over luck of inclusivity, their pleas which yielded positive results after ZAM president’s interference but when the crops were ready and harvested, the rapper refused to partake.
The rapper announced that he would instead be performing at the Ubuntu festival taking place in Lusaka at Nasdec Complex on Saturday, 26th, and Sunday, 27th April. His fans will be able to a glimpse of him and enjoy his performance at that event.
