Kazadi Music made an surprising announcement on October 30, 2024, revealing that it has broken ties with now top Zambian music sensation Mordecaii Munjoma, also known as Mordecai zm.

The split, which happened after only sixteen months of Mordecaii being signed to Kazadi Music, was referred as a mutual decision to support Mordecaii’s ongoing artistic path.

The statement from Kazadi Music expressed,

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that, after months of deliberation, Kazadi Music has mutually agreed to part ways with artist Mordecaii Munjoma, known as Mordecaii zm.

This decision was not made lightly, and we understand it may come as a shock to his fans. However, it is a necessary step as he embarks on new artistic ventures.”

Debut Album “Selfless” Postponed

Along with the announcement of the separation, the planned release date for Mordecaii’s debut album, Selfless, has been postponed.

Originally scheduled for release on September 29, then moved to November 8, the album’s current release date is now December 20. This delay has left fans eagerly anticipating what appears to be an important season in Mordecaii’s career.

Kazadi Music’s Influence on Mordecaii’s Rise

Mordecaii and Kazadi Music formed a partnership in June 2023, when Mordecaii’s song snippet, Fire, received enormous notice.

The song was officially released on June 30, 2023, and soon acquired millions of streams across multiple digital platforms, establishing Mordecaii as a prominent personality in Zambia’s music scene.

Mordecaii released several popular songs with Kazadi Music, including Pray, Don’t, Bad Energy, Money (with Ms. Grey), Maria, and Far Away (a collaboration with Lade and Xaven).

These releases have helped him grow his fan following, which now numbers hundreds of thousands of social media followers, more than 75,000 YouTube subscribers, and 5.6 million total YouTube views.
