Mordecaii Eyes Kwacha Music Awards Glory Amid Stiff Competition
Mordecaii, a Zambian musician, has experienced a spectacular climb after entering the music market only a year ago.
With chart-topping tunes and a new, dynamic sound, he’s already creating ripples across the nation. His hard work and growing popularity have garnered him nominations in two crucial categories for the 2024 Kwacha Music Awards.

Speaking to News Diggers, Mordecaii expressed his excitement about the nominations but acknowledged the stiff competition this year, noting the impressive effort from fellow artists. “Winning even one Kwacha Music Award would be great. The competition is tough. Everyone’s putting in insane effort this year,” he said.
Mordecaii’s song Far Away has been nominated for Best Afro Fusion/R&B Song, a category that includes some of Zambia’s biggest acts, such as Yo Maps (Confirmation), Neo (After God Fear Men), JC Kalinks (Ichibyonga), T-Low (Kale Bwangu), and Chile One (Nayo Nayo).
These finalists have all made important contributions to the Afro Fusion and R&B sectors, making the competition especially heated.

Mordecaii is not only acknowledged for his music, but also for Best Artist from the Southern Province.
This category challenges him against well-known acts such as Kadas, King Illest, Mr. Crown, Rockstone, and Tiger Tonka. Despite the obstacle, Mordecaii remains optimistic, viewing these nominations as a watershed moment in his burgeoning career.
The 2024 Kwacha Music Awards will be a magnificent celebration of Zambian talent, recognising performers who have made important contributions to the country’s music industry.
Mordecaii considers himself fortunate to be noticed within such a talented group. However, given the growing excitement surrounding his music, he may only walk away with one—or possibly two—trophies.
As the countdown to the Kwacha Music Awards continues, all eyes will be on the nominees, including Mordecaii, who has shown that hard work and dedication can propel even the newest artists into the limelight.
