MWIZUKANJI FEATURE FILM WINS AMVCA FOR BEST INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE SOUTHERN AFRICA

A Zambian film based on socialite and enterpreneur Mwizukanji’s life titled “Mwizukanji” has won an African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) for Best Indigenous Language Southern Africa. The film was directed and produced by Zambian filmmaker and actor Cosmas N’gandwe.
During the award ceremony for the 11th edition of the AMVCA that was held at Eco Hotels, Lagos, Nigeria on 10th May, 2024 saw the Zambian film win beating Man Of Gold(Zambia), Lukas(Namibia), Walvis Tale(Namibia) and The Vow.
Filmmaker Cosmas N’gandwe was not in attendance to receive the prestigious award but was represented by popular businessman Peter Mwansa alias Peter MyLife who expressed gratitude on behalf of filmmaker.
This win means Zambia has registered a fouth win at the biggest and most prestigious African film award show in Africa.

The previous winners include rapper Macky 2’s King Buga which won Best Unscripted Original(2023), Frank Sibbuku’s Mpali which won Best Original Telenovela(2023) and Abraham Kabwe’s Dalitso which won Best Film Southern Africa(2020)
The movie Mwizukanji was released in 2024 and had two successful sold-out cinema screenings with people who watched the movie, saying it surpassed their expectations, and they were looking forward to part two of the movie.
Mwizukanji feature film becomes one of the top successful Zambian original films. With so much success with his first movie, eyes are on the former Mpali actor Cosmas N’gandwe’s next move.
