RAPPER MACKY 2 PUTS ON POLITICAL JACKET IN PURSUIT OF MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT STATUS

With little effect from his behind the microphone advocate for good leadership, uplifting of underprivileged lives and justice, rapper Macky 2 compliments his efforts by getting to the frontline as he aspires for member of parliament in order to directly influence the change he through his vocal cords has for a long time persued.

The 40 year-old rapper whose real name is Mulaza Kaira stands on firm grounds over his belief that the change he wants to see happen requires youths’ involvement in decision making unlike the old tradition of youths being carders or cheering for old folks. Hence the singer has taken it upon himself through a song released on a day Zambian celebrates “Youth Day” to call for fellow youths to join in on the cause.

In his 12th March, 2025 youth-day anthem titled “The Youth Revolution,” the rapper opened his appeal to the youths with a strong message from the republican president Hakainde Hichilema, reminding youths of their role in country affairs, the president said, “Our youths must demand accountability and actively participate, the tech servy youths can for example, leverage technologies such as online platforms, social media in creating systems of integrity and ensuring sustainable development by addressing the root causes of corruption.”

Rapper Macky 2 went ahead by acknowledging the country’s late forefathers such as Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, Simon Kapwepwe, Harry Mwanga Nkumbula and Mainza Chona, who fought a fight they started as youths and brought independence, propelling the country into what it it is now.

The rapper continued with his call for youth to be involved in national affairs, a message echoed accross Africa as he rapped, “The country is now 60 but still needs soldiers, we still needs to fight forget what they told us. We are the young people that are now going to step up. The country we want is not just going to shape up, ba youth muli kwisa?”

In his appeal, the rapper mentioned several influential names such as Towela Kaira, Mwizukanji, Yo Maps, Kandeke, Bloodkid, Vinchezo, Redison Zimba to mention just a few. Even though some names may be controversial, the rapper’s message clear, youth have to stand up and play rather than cheering and complaining from the stands.

Macky 2 reaffirmed his position and how much he is willing to go for the good cause, as he said in the song, bribery and jail will never make him deviate from achieving his goal and calls on other youths to take a similar stance. He closed with another message from the republican president where he said, “In conclusion, let me emphasise by focusing on the youths as a primary agents of change.”

During the 2021 general election, the rapper joined forces with singer Mampi and Yo Maps to create an anthem for the Patrotic Front(PF) titled ‘Alebwelelapo,’ a move several Zambian reprimanded the artists for, as they accused them for being selfish, choosing money despite the country going through a tough economic and political period caused by the party they advocated for. But now, the rapper’s stance seem to have changed.

The rapper whose youth-day anthem has now accumulated over seventy thousand YouTube views ended with a flyer written “Hon Mulaza Kaira” signifying his desire to stand in parliamentary election in his efforts to help relieve the plight of the Zambian people.

The rapper’s move to stand as an member of parliament has recieved positive reviews from his peers and social user, applauding his cause. For now it’s unclear if the rapper will stand as an independent member of parliament or he will be affiliated to an already existing political party. Macky 2 has called, the revolution will be televised, are you picking up?
