In his latest album, Born to Win, Zambian superstar Roberto finally addresses the long-standing allegations brought by socialite Ivanka Bianca.
On track 19, “Born to Win,” the artist specifically reacts to statements that spread on social media, sparking controversy in April 2023.
Ivanka Bianca claimed that she had been in a covert seven-year romance with the married musician, who had pressured her into terminating several pregnacies.
Bianca also claimed that Roberto purposefully harmed her career by obstructing negotiations and opportunities.
Despite the outrage these charges sparked at the time, Roberto kept mute, and the rumours disappeared from public view.
However, Roberto has now broken his silence on the subject, using his music to set the record right.
In an open moment of the track Born To Win, he sang in Nyanja saying
“Ija issue yaku bedroom yeze set up, Kufaka ma camera siyenze eka, bantu bama camera niba oyo, you become news wherever they go.”
This translates to, “The bedroom issue was a set-up. Setting up cameras wasn’t the only thing they did. People with cameras are fake, you become news wherever they go”—a clear reference to the infamous bedroom allegations made by Bianca.
Roberto also reflected on previous accusations levelled against him over the years. He admits that some of these attacks have come from people in his own circle of friends, and he has also been teased for his appearance, including his height, teeth, and what some consider to be an overconfident demeanour.
Despite it all, there was no lawsuit filed against Ivanka Bianca but Roberto remains determined, utilising Born to Win to demonstrate his resilience and win over personal and professional obstacles.
The album, which represents a watershed moment for the artist, demonstrates his long-term achievement in the face of public scrutiny.
