ROBERTO’S ‘BORN TO WIN’ HAS ONLY ACCUMULATED 53,000 SPOTIFY STREAMS IN 4 MONTHS

The superstar released the album 'Born To Win' which was supposed to be the biggest release of his career but time has shown otherwise

In October 2024 – top Zambian RnB/Afrobeat artist Roberto had completed his recording and production spree for his album ‘Born To Win’ and all was set for the release of the project which was supposed to be the biggest release of his career – four months later since it’s release on October 17, 2024 the album has not achieved much desired streams.

The album has only managed to accumulate a little over 53,000 streams on spotify with the most streamed song from the nineteen(19) track album being track number eleven (11) ‘Make Love Tonight’ with 11,022 spotify streams. For an artist of his calibre, this performance is below his standard compared to his peers who released during the same year.

Filled with several positive reviews, the singer’s Audiomack has been the best performing platform for his album as it accumulated over 173,000 streams. The album has been said by many of the artist’s followers as a masterpiece but it seems, his army was not big enough as it has a cumulative 226,000 streams on both platforms (Spotify & Audiomack).

The artist’s album had no specific message as he talked about several issues ranging from his troubled upbringing, life drama, haters, relationship, sex and more – giving his fans a variety of topics to enjoy and digest.

This is the 40 year-old artist’s sixth solo studio album after successful releases of previous five albums – self titled Roberto (2006), Akasuba(2009), My Name Is(2012) and Amarulah(2014) and Superstar (2017). The ‘superstar’ as he refers to himself, rose to prominent fame after the release of his 2014 smash hit Amarulah single which has become the most streamed Zambian song on spotify with over 7.6 million streams.

The artist has not released a music video from the album ‘Born To Win‘ so far. Music videos have been regarded to be a promotional tool in modern music world. The album becomes the only project from the superstar without a viral sensation.

The reasons for the undesirable commercial and digital streaming platforms success of the album can be attributed to various reasons but the artist’s creative artistic process and influence in the music spheres can not be undermined.

Is this the artist’s last album? His fans hope not despite the artist seeming to be is in his ‘late career’ stage. Despite releasing infectious melodies the fans would love to see him release another viral sensation – for now they can only wait to see what he still has in store for them. Why do you think the artist’s album has not performed so well?
