LEGENDARY singer CHIKO MWENYA MUMBA popularly known as CHIKO WISE has died today at the age of 41 after being rushed to the UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL early this morning.
“I can’t believe this,” AFUNIKA reacted to the passing of his close friend in a Facebook post.
The Zambia Association of Musicians’ Spokesperson and publicity secretary, EDMOND MBANGA MITI JR revealed that singer had a pre-existing heart condition and was rushed to the hospital this morning around 3am but was pronounced dead on arrival.
“Tragically, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Chiko Wise was a storyteller who stayed true to the Zambian sound. He will be missed,” the association said in part.
CHIKO WISE was a popular artist around the 2010s releasing hits such as SHINTWALA featuring AFUNIKA, KUMANDA featuring B1 and MUKASENDE.
The singer was actively releasing music with his recent performance being this past Saturday. Talking to News Diggers in January, 2025 he hinted releasing a new 16-track album.
Several music industry players, his fans and others have joined the family in mourning the singer as tribute messages pour on social media. The Kopala singer leaves behind a wife and children.
