Western Province top artist Muyunda Lubosi, popularly known as Y Coast, was involved in a road traffic accident along Mongu-Lusaka road near Itezhi-Tezhi turnoff. According to images from the accident scene, the artist sustained severe injuries.
The artist was travelling in a silver sedan, which was extremely damaged from the impact of the accident after it veered off the road. The renowned singer was in company of Abedi and his wife.
The accident happened in the late afternoon of April 3rd, 2025, as the singer was heading to Mongu to attend the prestigious Kuomboka Ceremony of the Lozi people.
Y Coast was rushed to Mumbwa District Hospital to receive treatment and is reported to be in a stable condition. Later in the evening, he was transferred to Maina Soko Hospital in Lusaka by Zambia Air Force to receive specialist treatment.
Mukeya Liwena alias The Royal Reporter said in Silozi in part, “Asamulaho wa kozi yafa mukwakwa yana bile teni mwateni hamoho cwalo ni Abedi ni musalahae. Kaufela ba pila kwanda butuku fela bwa kuzwa mwa kozi ye cwalo.” This translates to, “He, Abedi and his wife are well and alive apart from pain because of the accident.”
The singer is also an Army personnel in the government of the republic of Zambia as he was part of the recruit pass out in 2024.
Y Coast was scheduled to perform at “The Mongu Invasion” in Mongu at Mongu Stadium on 4th April 2025. Several of his supporters send in well wishes, hoping for a quick recovery.
