THE ZEDFARMER’S THIRD MARRIAGE TO PASTOR MISHECK MWEWA CRUMBLES – “I USED TO COMPETE WITH HIS DEAD WIFE,” SHE SAID
The agripreneur and socialite has set Zambian social media ablaze with the hint of a new relationship signaling the end of her 3rd marriage to Pastor Misheck Mwewa
Maria Zileni Zaloumis, 40 years old popularly known as The ZedFarmer is a socialite, founder and CEO of Tuzini Farms Ltd, a commercial farming business. Zambian social media is in a frenzy after news of The ZedFarmer’s third marriage to Pastor Misheck Mwewa had ended in divorce.
The ZedFarmer who is also a nurse specialized in cardiology, grew up in Lusaka until nineth grade when she moved to Chile, South American in an exchange programme to complete her secondary education. The now farmer who founded her agribusiness Tuzini farms in 2017 is reportedly a millionaire as she manages to harvest over 500 crates of tomatoes weekly earning her hundreds of thousands she told That Zed Podcast in 2022.
But her wealth might be her source of failure in relationships as she said in part while on That Zed Podcast, “Yeah, I had this person in my life, the person would come into my life, after two days he’d ask for money, he never had time for my kids, because you know my kids come number one, no brains, no vision – his ultimate goal was to ask me for money,” she explained her misfortunes in finding partners. The ZedFarmer further complained that she’s been targeted a whole lot by men who whose only aim is to solicit money from her. “But do you know when it happens?” Elson asked as she responded in affirmation.
A social user responded to her post on Facebook saying, “to be honest, it’s like most men you come across want to take advantage of you. They always expect you to provide, dress them up, as though you’ve become their husbands. Marriage isn’t like that. Men must stop the element of becoming liabilities just because their wives are stable financially. That way, the marriage loses its meaning,” and The ZedFarmer responded in affirmation, cementing the reasons for her divorce with her third husband, Pastor Patrick Mwewa as she said, “this was exactly my situation. We always find wrong people.”
The socialite and agripreneur has been open about her depression and how she has had to deal with it. In a 2022 That Zed Podcast, she opened up about one of her previous marriages explaining how she lost her child and a week later her husband asked for a divorce because he had found someone else, “when you’re a woman, especially in Zambia and you are smart, and you know what you want, and you are assertive – you get a lot of men who become intimidated,” she said.
Despite being in several crumbling marriages, the socialite and agripreneur was fierce in explaining how she felt about her dirvoces, with people having various opinions about her life she still stands on her feet, “I am not apologetic that I’m divorced twice, I’m not apologetic that I put myself first and I’m not apologetic that I’m chubby – I’m not apologetic about anything because I understand who I am and I understand my purpose,” – said the Tuzini Farms Ltd founder and CEO, Maria Zileni Zaloumis.
One thing is evident from her failed recent marriage, the man wasn’t playing his part according to her. Her theory on what men need is clear, show them respect and love will come naturally – but her trouble with her partner seems to be far from that, it’s in the ‘financial department’ as she was clear on That Zed Podcast, “Even if a man is earning less than you, as long as he’s making an effort and he has a vision and he is working towards his vision – it’s different when a man sits and he’s waiting for you to bring bread home, then I’ll have a problem,” suggesting that the pastor husband seems not to have been bringing ‘bread’ home or made the effort.
Maria Zileni Zaloumis alias The ZedFarmer’s first marriage was to Mr Mwelwa, the couple got married on 1st September, 2019 and their marriage lasted two years, ended in the Lusaka High Court as she cited physical, emotional and verbal abuse, death threats, infidelity and line of work disagreements ending with the settlement being maintenance, property and custody of their son.
The puzzle running in her followers is, is she going to get married again? For the fourth time? She’s 40 year-old and life starts at 40 year-old, most would say hence they have only time on their hands to find out.
