THIS SONG “CHOKLET – SULIPO” KEPT DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS GOING & BROKEN HEARTS MASSAGED

Throwback Thursday – When phones were not a common thing and love birds could not exchange how they felt easily, Choklet’s Sulipo was one play away from speaking on their behalf. The song has a beautiful message, it’s lyrics are a whole love letter, and there is no need to alter any words.

The song’s bridge is truly catchy, as Choklet sang about a more familiar feeling. “Wenze zuba yanga ngati kwacha, wenze mwezi ngati kwafipa.” The singer was telling an estranged lover that she was his sun when day came and the moon when it became dark. A line that made women feel butterflies in their stomach.

The song’s chorus is centered on calling back an estranged lover as the Choklet sang, “Nifuna ubwelele mu moyo, unimveseko che mushe. Chalo china ipa ndaba suliko mami.” The chorus basically translates to, “I want you to come back into my life. You make me feel good. The world has become bad because you are not around.”

The singer continued his sweet message in verse two as he said when he sleeps on his bed, he still hears her voice, and her image can’t leave his mind. This left many lovers emotional as they reminisced on old memories with their partners.

The last strike to their emotions was when female artist B Nell featured on the song sang, “Naine I miss your love, I miss your love, naine bwela unitenge,” translating to, “I also miss your love, come get me.” It was as if love birds could hear their partners hear them.

This song, “Choklet featuring B Nell – Sulipo,” remains a timeless classic song. You can play it today, and it will still hit an emotional cord like it was released yesterday. Choklet should come back because Zambian music is not the same when he is not there.
