YO MAPS’ DANDY TRIBUTE SONG ‘I WISH’ IS A HIT ACCUMULATING 3 MILLION YOUTUBE VIEWS IN 2 MONTHS

A tribute song turned into a hit song as Yo Maps’ one night expression of regret and love towards late legendary artist Dandy Krazy through a song revealed not only his amazing artistic guise but also the love Zambians had for the singer as ‘I Wish (Dandy Krazy Tribute Song)’ accumulates over three (3) million YouTube streams since its release on January 6th.

Yo Maps’ message is filled with emotions, probably one of the reasons people have been able to relate to the song. He sang in a soothing tone as he said,”I wish wenze pafupi wemunandi, sembe wazi onela weka, kuti muntu bamutasha palya nga talepema, ndelemba letter notuma boi.” The lines are inspired by the huge number of people who showed up to his funeral as he says a person is loved most after they die.

Yo Maps sang in a nostalgic tone, as wished the late Dandy Krazy was alive so that they could have some more conversations. The singer vented out his heart’s feelings as he sang,”Chishinka mwandi deku mising’a, dekufuluka ndelelosha, pano mwandi nde wishing’a, ngepo wachiba nga natuma, wewine waleti savanyo, kabanyo…” highlighting how much affection the artist had for the late singer.

The song has taken over radio and TV station charts. People who attend Yo Maps’ shows are seen singing the song word for word with their faces visibly emotionally striken by the melody and message. The song has crossed borders of regular tribute songs as it has become a nationwide song played in any place for any type of mood.

Yo Maps has only shared the song on YouTube hence it is not available for streaming on other digital streaming platforms. Because it is a tribute song, it can be speculated that the singer did not want to commercialise the song but just wanted to share a piece of his feelings in regard to the death of a fellow beloved artist Dandy Krazy, of which many people who loved him have been able to relate and also communicate their feelings.

Dandy Krazy died on 2024’s new year’s eve as he traveled to Kitwe for a show with four others in the vehicle. The accident that took the celebrated singer claimed four other lives. His life was so influential such that his death featured in one of the world’s biggest media, the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC).

His life will truly continue being celebrated through his music and all the tribute songs written and performed by his fellow creatives. He was truly loved gem who was always commended for his lively spirit as he always pread positivity where ever he was.
