YO MAPS’ DONATION TOWARDS DANDY KRAZY’S FUNERAL RETURNED, CHAOS ERUPTS

What was supposed to be a calm evening as people on social media were held up with admiring singer Yo Maps’ new jogging routine tuned into a frenzy after several videos surfaced online purported to be at the singer’s residence with a heap of 25kg mealie meal bags and chickens seen by his gate whilst several observers looked on.
On 31st of December, 2025 singer Dandy Krazy died in an accident while heading to Kitwe for a new year’s eve performance. The nation brought to tears as the legendary artist was adored but it was not ready for the drama that would follow. Several artists released tribute songs but among them was Yo Maps’ track which caught massive attention like wild fire turning a sorrowful song into a celebratory tune.
Not long after, several social users started calling him out, among them were artists who said subliminally that the artist was showing ‘fake love’ towards Dandy Krazy as he never assisted him when he needed help while alive.
As the ‘national’ funeral proceeded, several well wishers donated in an effort to easy the family’s burden of funeral costs. Among the donations was Yo Maps’ undisclosed sum of money, bags of mealie meal and chickens – as per Zambian tradition, people eat at funerals. Well this gesture has resulted in what many have called ‘unnecessary’ discussion on social media.
The singer in an over one hour, thirty minutes(1 hour, 30 minutes) Facebook live video made on 29th January, 2025 sent shots at the artists who threw subliminal jabs at him of being ‘fake’ as he called them broke niggas and traitors who got free songs from him, forgetting to appreciate.
He further added that the same people who talked bad about him, still ate the food he donated at Dandy Krazy’s funeral. It was this statement that didn’t sit well with most social users as they felt it was disrespectful to the deceased’s family.
After the Facebook live video, the singer got backlash from many social users, including Zambia Association of Musicians(ZAM)who requested through a statement that the artist offers an apology to which he declined. Furthermore, Lilian Mutambo said she would organize for the return of the 120 chickens donated by the artist towards Dandy Krazy’s funeral.
Several social media reports suggested that the singer had donated 20,000 Zambian kwacha, fifty(50) 25kg bags of mealie and one hundred and twenty chickens(120). Meanwhile, the circulating video only showed approximately less that fifteen(15) 25kg mealie meal bags and a chicken which were being returned. These were placed outside the singer’s gate.
Before the artist could address the audience, chaos ensued as spectators rushed and scrambled for the bags of mealie meal and the chicken leaving nothing behind. It is unclear on who returned the mealie meal and the chicken but one thing for sure is the people were unhappy with the singer’s choice of words.
