YO MAPS GAINED ONE MILLION STREAMS IN 26 DAYS ON MY HERO ALBUM TO SURPASS 3.7 MILLION SPOTIFY STREAMS

The artist breaks records as he gains over one million spotify streams to hit a record of 3.7 million streams in a little over two months on the platform

Today, February 5th, 2025 – Top Zambian export Yo Maps set records as he has accumulated over one million Spotify streams in the last 26 days with his My Hero album. The album has now hit an all time high of 3,737,826 streams. The leading single from the album, Ex Wamunandi has surpassed 787,000 spotify streams becoming the most streamed song on the project.

The album was released on December 25th, 2024 after the singer decided to reward his beloved fans for the support and love they’ve shown towards his art over the years. A gift from his heart to theirs – and the fans have really embraced and showed appreciation as observed from the streaming numbers on digital streaming platforms.

The album had surpassed 1.491 million spotify streams within twelve(12) days(which was on 6th January, 2025) after release. This becomes the artist’s second album to achieve the milestone after the singer’s biggest album release ‘Try Again’ in May 2023. The album had surpassed 2.7 million spotify streams by February 6th, 2025. The stream count now stands at 3.7 million streams signifying a one million addition from last month.

The 14 track-album has had all its songs surpass a 100,000 spotify streams of which only Chef 187’s Broke Nolunkumbwa and his Try Again album has been able to achieve this milestone. Despite the album receiving overwhelming criticism after it’s release, it seems to be standing tall and soaring high as it enters the race for the top streamed album on the platform by a Zambian artist of which his Try Again album leads with 11.86 million streams.

After the release of his first solo studio album ‘Komando’ exclusively to Boomplay in 2022, Yo Maps helped in transitioning of Zambian music consumers to streaming, making the platform a popular source of music for the Zambian audience.

In recent years, artist’s have been advocating for better paying platforms such as Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music, and to see him accumulating such numbers is a sign that soon fellow artists will follow suit just like they did with Boomplay. Despite that, the issue on how much artists make from these platforms is still a highly debated topic.

For now the singer is setting records straight, that despite so much criticism he is still soaring high, he is flower blooming on rocks. It’s only been a little over two months since its release, and it already promises to achieve a lot more as times goes by. Well we’ll be here to update you.
