YO MAPS’ LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCE TO COST EVENT ORGANIZERS ABOUT 1.1 MILLION KWACHA – DJ KANDEKE

TOP Zambian artist YO MAPS’ manager DJ Kandeke took to his socials yesterday to announce his artist’s new price tag for a live music performance.

In the post, DJ Kandeke revealed that it will now cost event organisers 45,990 USD (equivalent to 1,094,516.01 Zambian Kwacha at today’s exchange rate) to book his artist for a live music performance.

“Attention event organisers. Booking fee update for the superstar Yo Maps. As of soon(now), the booking fee for a live performance show will be $45,990,” DJ Kandeke’s post read in part.

Over the years, the Olios have been known to share their rate cards. Their last rate card showed that his highest booking fee is 10,200 USD for a live outdoor performance. Therefore, this announcement represents a 78% increase from 2024.

The announcement has caused a social media frenzy with some social users, saying he is charging more than he is worth. Meanwhile, others agree, stating that he has earned it.

One social user, Mr Gulube, said that Yo Maps charging this much positions him as a high-value brand and allows him to focus on fewer rewarding opportunities than chasing every show, hence protecting his time and brand.

This over a million Kwacha price tag on his live music performance sets him as one of the highest paid performers in the country.

Given the cost of delivering a live music performance, Yo Maps’ artistry level, and his crowd pulling capabilities, many argue the price is fair, but worry his fans will carry the cross through high-priced tickets.
