YO MAPS BOASTS 63.8 MILLION STREAMS ON ‘MY HERO’ ALBUM IN 3 MONTHS

Singer and producer Yo Maps has kept going rampant in the Zambian music industry redefining what “superstar status” on the scene really means. With a lot of scepticism over the quality of the new music after the release of his third solo career studio album “My Hero,” the singer had a point to prove. After pressing the release button, the songs spread like wild fire, accumulating 63,841,654 streams in three months.
The album was released on several digital streaming platforms, and this figure includes YouTube, Spotify, Audiomack, and Boomplay streams. Among these, the artist got the most streams from boomplay with over 38.8 million streams, seconded by YouTube with 19,056,071 streams.
The singer also accumulated over 4,655,637 streams on spotify and finally on Audiomack with 1.33 million streams. It’s important to note that the album is also available on other digital streaming platforms such as Tidal, Apple, and Deezer, among others. Hence, the stream count is higher.
The album’s success is highly catalysed by its life messages, as seen from several songs on the album, which include Bana Bandi and Musunge. Love and God praises have been a huge part of Yo Maps’ catalogue and on the album he did just that with “Peace Of Mind featuring Roberto,” becoming on of the most successful single from the album.
With the album’s melodies and rhythms so infections and with a short incubation period like COVID, so many people regardless of their perception of the artist found themselves playing a song or two from the album resulting in the symptoms of success observed within a short period.
It has only been three months and the album has had tremendous success, featuring on boomplay monthly top Africa songs since it’s release and playing in every street corner of Zambia, truly at the moment, “My Hero” album has no competition for best album, at least not yet. We can only wait to see how many more records the album will break.
