YOUR TALENT WON’T LEAVE YOU, FIRST FINISH YOUR SCHOOL THEN CONTINUE WITH YOUR GIFT – RAPPER STEVO ADVISES CREATIVES

Zambian hip-hop artist STEVO took a moment on his socials to answer a question about how he managed to balance between pursuing tertiary education at the University of Zambia and being an artist, a question he has been asked the several times.

The rapper acknowledged how tough it is to balance between the two. He then advised that one’s talent is permanent, but schooling has a time frame once one starts. The rapper said that once one starts school, they need to be committed and not, “Cheat on it.”

“But school has got a time frame because when you start, you need to finish at a certain point. But if you start, let’s say your college or your university, at that point in time, it’s like a relationship, you don’t need to cheat on it.”

He continued, “If you know that you have got a gift, know that the gift won’t leave you. You can finish your school, after your school, you continue with your gift.”

Stevo’s above advice correlates with the reason for absence on the music scene. Answering the burning question, he said his disappearances from making music and performing at gigs were sponsored by his efforts to get an education.

The rapper then highlighted the importance of having an education as he stated that if one has an education they will be able to make proper financial decisions, understand contracts, and overall make informed decisions regarding the management of their art.

Steve concluded as he emphasized, ” If you’re at school, focus on school, finish your school, get back to your skill, sharpen it, and then you’ll be a success story.”

Stevo’s message is very clear. Creatives should prioritize and complete their education, as talent will always be there. With a good education, one can make better informed decisions and succeed both creatively and professionally.
