YO MAPS WINS AFRIMA 2025 BEST MALE ARTISTE IN SOUTHERN AFRICA BEATING NASTY C, TYLER ICU, JAH PRAYZAH & OTHERS
TOP Zambian singer YO MAPS won Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa at the 9th edition of All Africa Music Awards – AFRIMA held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Yo Maps claimed victory as he defeated Nasty C, Tyler ICU, Kabza De Small, Manana and Wanitwa Mos(all from South Africa), and Anderson Mario(Angola), Jah Prayzah(Zimbabwe), Teddy Makadi and Zeze Kingston(both from Malawi).
When accepting the award, Yo Maps said, “Good evening, Lagos. One time, thank you. My name is Yo Maps, representing Zambia, one of the biggest artists in Southern Africa.
And yeah, I just want to say thank you to almighty God for this, you know? My family, my wife. I’m married, by the way, with two kids, you know. Yeah, so if you want my number, please don’t come here. We can go outside, then give me your number.”
This win makes the singer the second Zambian artist to win an AFRIMA award after Cleo Ice Queen won Best Female Artiste in Southern Africa in 2021.
The win is a testament to YO MAPS’ talent and exponentially growing influence on the African continent’s music scene.
This prestigious recognition is not only a personal achievement but also a milestone for Zambian music.
