Rapper 76 DRUMS revealed how he met music producer DJ MZENGA MAN and how he got signed to his record label M BEATS GENERATION MUSIC when he featured on the Kenny T 1 ON 1 podcast.
The rapper told Kenny T that after moving from the Copperbelt to Lusaka, he struggled for a while but built a team along the way. Top music producer DJ Mzenga Man noticed him after a clip of him singing went viral on social media, and the producer commented that he would like to work with him.
76 Drums then told Kenny T that he did not waste time waiting to be told their meeting date arrangements, as he went straight to his office.
“We move like fortune favors the brave. Once fye twaumfwa ati kuli opportunity kwa so, iyee! Nenshita (to wait) iyo takwali,” he said.
After arriving at the record label’s offices, the rapper was told to come on a different date, but he refused and said he would not leave without signing a contract.
“They were trying to like prepare a contract for me, then baisa njeba ati okay, ukese after mailo. Naisa beba ati nshaye nga nsha saine,” 76 Drums told Kenny T.
He went on to say that his passion does not follow standard procedure and, therefore, he showed up the next day to start recording new music. “Like I’m burning inside, mulilo mulilo,” he added.
However, 76 Drums clarified that he was not signed by Melar Beats, but they are just friends, and Melar Beats believed in him so much that he gave him free studio time.
