THE KOPALA PASTOR CALLS OUT LOCAL CHRISTIAN AWARDS FOR MARGINALISING HIM DESPITE GETTING INTERNATIONAL NOMINATIONS & WINS

Gospel artist the Kopala Pastor breaks silence on his continued marginalization by local Christian awards such as those by Radio Christian Voice despite getting nominations in Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania this year.

“How can my work be visible internationally, yet invisible locally, especially with Christian awards?” wondered the gospel artist.

He continued in part, “If my work is unworthy, how do international bodies recognize it? If it is worthy, why can’t my own local Christian entities see it?”

The Kopala Pastor, unlike many other gospel artists, put aside fear of being blacklisted and stated that Christian awards should not be politicised, work based on with preferences, marginalize artists but mother those who are creating Christian art.

Furthermore, he questioned the integrity of these Christian awards as he stated that some award board members win the same awards they preside.

“We can’t preach integrity from the stage and practice politics behind the scenes,” he said.

In the social media post, he also addressed naysayers and skeptics of work, stating that his work and influence speak for itself, and that could be confirmed by checking his platforms.

The Kopala Pastor’s call for accountability comes just a few days after winning VOLTA FASHIONS WEEK AWARDS’ Best Star Africa Gospel Artist of the Year 2025 at an award ceremony held in Ghana.

The gospel artist called on the Christian awards organisers to reflect on their actions and recognize deserving individuals. “May these awards once again become altars that glorify God, not egos,” he concluded.
