THE B FLOW, YO MAPS, KIDIST WRANGLE EXPLAINED: WHY THE TENSION?

There has been tension online between B FLOW, ZAM, and The Olios camp—but why and what caused it? Here is the timeline of events.

■ 20th April 2026 – Yo Maps released “Budget ft. Dizmo, Frank Ro & KingTec” and its music video as the lead single for his “VIBES ON VIBES” album.
■ 22nd April 2026 – Concerns appear online over two scenes from the “Budget” music video as ladies are seen kissing and caressing, with many stating it’s culturally inappropriate.
》 On TikTok, Jeremiah Ngomomo leads concerned parties as he claims he reported the issue to ZICTA, the Broadcasting Complaints Commission, the Zambia Association of Musicians, IBA, and Honourable Elvis Nkandu—one of the letters was seen by Zedify Online.
■ 25th April – 1st May 2026 – Social media buzz around the culturally inappropriate scenes intensifies as multiple social users talk about it, but the Yo Maps and Olios Records team remain silent.
■ 2nd May 2026 – B Flow and ZAM publish a statement that they reached out to YO MAPS on 26th April 2026 and later on to his team and Director Lo and reached a consensus to which they edited the inappropriate scenes from the “Budget” music video, and an edited version is already in circulation.
They added that they found a mechanism to edit the video directly on YouTube without requiring a full takedown; a first attempt which wasn’t successful was made and another was in progress.
■ 3rd May 2026 – Olios Records issues a statement by quoting ZAM’s statement, saying they never reached out but they were open to dialogue.
》 Yo Maps commented on the post that, contrary to ZAM president B Flow, he doesn’t remember talking to him and he is not editing or removing any video from his YouTube channel.
》 Kidist Kifle comments on the same post saying she would like to see ZAM do more than just play soccer on weekends and show up at airports.
》 B Flow hits back at Kidist Kifle saying she should stay in her lane as she’s not a musician before saying ZAM has done more for the singer, including helping him with visas and getting him booked for a show in Burkina Faso last year.
》 The singer’s wife dismisses those claims and says it was all her husband’s doing and if he had such keys he would have gotten himself booked.
》 Kidist responds to the ZAM president again, “B Flow you and I same WhatsApp group the only thing you have over me is that you have met Obama. The same yo maps whose efforts you are toying with in this comment is the same one who you asked for the song Touch and Go from, yeah?” And he so generously gave it to you. Anyway… nipano tuli.”
》 Kidist Kifle releases a statement reaffirming that she is involved in her husband’s music affairs and has a say even if she’s not a musician.
Re-echoes that B Flow and his led ZAM never reached out and says it would have been respectful if they engaged through proper channels before making public statements if their intention was to truly provide guidance and constructive rebuke.
“If you hold one person to a particular standard, you should hold EVERYONE to it because if not, it starts to feel targeted,” she added.
Amidst this chaos, DJ Kandeke has thrown subliminal messages to many who voiced displeasure over the inappropriate scenes in his artist’s music video.
